What you'll learn

Spot the danger your risk score misses

The threat everyone warns about is rarely what actually causes harm.

Find where a medium rating hides real harm

We work through a real case showing how classification missed the actual risk.

Run a fast context check on any AI use case

Check ownership, reversibility and who absorbs the cost, beyond a risk score.

Why this topic matters

In the rush to comply with the EU AI Act and emerging AI governance standards, classifying a system as high, medium or low looks like the job done. It isn't. A label can't capture how a system gets used, or where that use causes harm. Without that, compliance is just paperwork with no substance behind it. This session moves past classification to foreseeability: what you'd reasonably see coming from how AI is actually used.

I've watched standards get adopted without anyone asking where they came from. No point applying one if you don't see why it exists. The real work is the debate over language and process, arguing out how to reach the best outcome. Not a box ticked.

That's the lens I bring to data privacy and AI governance through Nexus Jump. Compliance on paper doesn't protect anyone. Real-world consequences do, managed through culture, not a checklist. The same shift aviation, medicine and construction have already made.

I teach on Maven and Udemy, and write about where conventional risk and compliance thinking breaks down against AI. My interest is sharing what works and fixing what's broken, so good ideas gain ground instead of staying locked in one playbook. Understanding beats fear every time.
